Have questions about unlocking your potential?

We know you might have questions. Here are some common queries about my coaching and mentoring services.

What is the aim of professional coaching and how does it function?

Professional coaching is a partnership between a coach and an individual or business. It involves guiding clients to set and achieve their personal or professional goals. Providing insights, accountability, and strategies, a coach helps unlock and maximize potential.

How do individuals and businesses benefit from coaching?

Coaching empowers individuals and businesses to break through barriers and achieve their goals.

What types of personal issues can you help with?

I work alongside your agenda, not anyone else’s, and I’m comfortable to help navigate anything that will help you unlock your hidden potential. The only exceptions will be if I believe, during our conversation, that harm may be caused by you to yourself or others and I will invite you to seek alternative support.

Common personal issues I typically work with clients on include self-confidence and self-esteem; stress management; work-life balance; time management; decision making; goal setting and achievement; motivation and productivity; career transition; personal growth and development; health and wellness; mindset and attitude; life transitions; financial management; emotional regulation; creativity and innovation; conflict resolution.

What types of business-related issues can you help with?

No two businesses are ever alike, but there are some common areas I tend to see. These include leadership and development; strategic planning; decision making; team building; change management; conflict resolution; time management; personal improvement; work-life balance; innovation and creativity; communication skills; sales and marketing strategies; customer relationship management; financial management; talent management; executive coaching; cultural transformation; project management; risk management; networking and relationship building; business development; succession planning.

What types of team-related issues can you help with?

Similar to individual and businesses, no two teams are ever alike. Common issues found in teams and can be supported through, with me as your coach, include communication; collaboration; conflict resolution; team dynamics; role clarity; goal setting; performance improvement; motivation; decision making; leadership development; trust building; cultural alignment; adaptability; accountability; innovation and creativity; stress management; diversity and inclusion; team-building activities; feedback mechanisms ; strengths assessments; meeting effectiveness.

How do your coaching sessions work?

I will always start with a free consultation call (chemistry session) to make sure that we are a good match. If I’m not the right person for you, I will always say so and can signpost you to somebody who might be a better fit.

Although I am flexible in how we work together, I typically find that blocks of six sessions works well with most of my clients. We will meet on Zoom, although we can meet in person if you prefer. Sessions are generally spread out two-weeks apart (four weeks maximum).

What makes Hidden Potential Coaching stand out?

At Hidden Potential Coaching my experience in the ‘real world’ of employment as an employer and dedication to your success sets me apart. I offer personalised coaching tailored to your needs, guided by integrity and empathy and my own values of achievement, merit, fairness and humour.

How confidential is the coaching process?

All coaching sessions are strictly confidential, ensuring a safe and private environment for open discussion. In fact, as a member of the International Coaching Federation it is one of my core competencies to demonstrate ethical practice which includes maintaining confidentiality with clients information, per stakeholder agreements and pertinent laws.

What is the difference between a mentor and a coach?

Although the roles of a coach and a mentor both involve guiding and supporting individuals or teams, they differ in several key aspects.

For example, as a coach we may focus primarily focus on your specific skills, performance, and achieving short-term goals, whist as a mentor we may focus on overall personal and professional development, offering broader guidance and support.

Similarly, as a coach I use structured techniques and methodologies, such as goal-setting, feedback, and performance reviews, whilst as a mentor I typically provide advice, share experiences, and offer insights based on my own personal and professional journeys.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Coaching focuses on achieving specific goals and improving performance, while therapy addresses psychological issues and emotional healing. For full disclosure, I am not a therapist and so if during our conversations I believe therapy may be more suitable for you, I will invite you to explore working with a qualified therapist.

How long does the coaching process take?

The duration of our relationship varies depending on your goals, but many of my clients see significant progress within 3 to 6 months. In terms of length of each session, these will naturally vary depending on where we are in the conversation. However, sessions are typically between 45 and 105 minutes. And as you pay for each session, not the length of time, I’m not going to ‘fill’ time to bring it up to the ’60 minute’ mark, like some coaches and mentors do.

I also provide support before and after each coaching session (all part of the service). It’s also not unknown that my clients and I keep in touch after our coaching sessions with occasional check-in’s. Nothing formal, as I really do want my clients to succeed. And it’s of value to me also to receive honest feedback so I can improve my services and client care.
